Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement courses are rigorous, college level academic courses taught on campus in our West Orange HS classrooms.  *Students should consult with their guidance counselor and teachers to determine if AP classes are an academic fit for their goals.

WHY AP:

Research consistently shows that AP students are better prepared for college than students who don’t take AP, regardless of their exam score. They’re more likely to enroll and stay in college, do well in their classes, and graduate in four years.

TAKING AP COURSES:

- Provide excellent preparation for future college success.
- Offer opportunity to assimilate to college level coursework while in high school.
- Develop valuable college skills like time management and college level writing.

AP STUDENT ADVANTAGES:

- Boost GPA
- Earn college credits in high school
- “AP” on your high school transcript shows colleges you're motivated to succeed
- Better preparation for the demands of future college courses
- Colleges value the rigor of AP courses on transcripts
