Important Dates and Updates

Blood Drive on Campus

Student 16 and older are welcome to sign up to donate at the Blood Drive on Tuesday, 9/15 in the Gym Lobby with One Blood.  
Students aged 16 must have parent consent (form linked in the sign up).  

Students must sign up to participate.  The email response to the google form acts as their pass to the Blood Drive.
 
2026 FNL Themes list with dates, opponents, and theme names like Hawaiian, Country, Go Gold, USA/Patriotic, Black Out, White Out, Camo, Pinktober, SENIOR NIGHT Neon, Homecoming, and Halloween.
 

Attendance Procedure Updates

Students must complete the following tasks prior to clearance beginning mid-September:
  1. Students must complete their OCPS Student Code of Conduct course in Canvas.
  2. Clear outstanding financial obligations from previous school years.  Any fees for this school year (26-27) does not count as an outstanding balance.
   
Go to https://ocps.schoolcashonline.com/ to check student obligations.  Accounts must be accessed by parents. The primary parent and email listed on skyward is the account holder.

Gently Used Girls Clothing Donations

Our front office is looking for gently used girls pants, shorts, and shirts - sizes 0 - 14 or XS - XL.  Donations will be accepted at the front desk.

Weekend SAT Testing at WOHS

Important Things to Note:
•    Make sure you bring a physical photo ID. You cannot test without one. Pictures of an ID are not accepted.
•    These are the dates being offered at West Orange. Other schools may have different dates.
•    You must register online through the testing websites.
•    For ACT, West Orange only offers the paper version of the test. You would need to register for a different location if you want to take the digital version.
•    For SAT, complete the pre-test setup on Bluebook before arriving for testing. You can only access the test ticket if you have done this. You cannot check in for testing without your test ticket.
•    For SAT, please have your College Board login memorized. You will need this to login to Bluebook on test day.

STUDENT SERVICES

BigFuture Scholarship- Earn entries in monthly drawings for $500 and $40,000 scholarships by completing qualifying steps

Florida U.S. Senate Youth Program- The USSYP is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students and an opportunity for motivated student leaders to have direct contact with the highest-level elected and appointed officials in the nation. 

VFW Voice of Democracy- The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in future generations. They are looking for a democracy-loving high school student interested in a $35,000 college scholarship.

Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship - Submit an online written response to this prompt: "Imagine that your high school or college has been overrun with zombies. Your math professor, the cafeteria ladies, and even your best friend have all joined the walking dead. Flesh out a plan to avoid the zombies, including where you’d hide and the top five things you’d bring to stay alive." (250 words or less)
  • Deadline: October 31, 2026
  • Award: $2,000

  • Hispanic Heritage Youth Scholarships- The Youth Awards were founded in 1998 by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Now entering their 27th year, the Youth Awards honor high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Community Service, Engineering, Green Sustainability, and Technology
  • Deadline: November 1, 2026
  • Award: Gold, Silver, and Bronze recipients are selected in each category and receive a one-time grant to fund their college education or to fund a community service effort that tackles a social issue, and then one national Awardee is selected in each of the categories

Chick-fil-A Scholarship - Chick-fil-A, Inc. invests in the education of leaders in our communities who want to continue learning. Every year, at least twelve (12) $25,000 scholarships are awarded to students based on academic success, community service, and financial need. Selected Chick-fil-A Community Scholars award recipients are invited to participate in the Chick-fil-A Scholars Program, an optional one-year engagement that includes mentoring and leadership development.
Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - The Cooke College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities.

ELKS Most Valuable Student - The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2026 competition. Scholarships range from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year. The Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award, conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.


Odenza Marketing Group Scholarship - The Odenza Marketing Group Scholarship is for students ages 16 to 25 who have maintained a 2.5 GPA or higher in the most recent year completed.
