CONNECTIVITY DAY #3

Our 3rd Connectivity Day will take place on Thursday, January 29th. This Connectivity Day will be focused on creating more connection to staff with personal engagement in activities that our staff enjoys. Each student will have an opportunity to sign up for a connectivity session. Sign up will be posted on Canvas announcements for students on Monday, 1/26.
If a student does not sign up, they will be placed in a classroom for the connectivity period based on available space.

After the 30 minutes session, we will hold our Winter Sports Pep Rally. All students are welcome to attend the pep rally or they may stay in their connectivity room for the duration of the pep rally.
 

2026 - 2027 COURSE REGISTRATION

Registration for next year is quickly approaching. The power point will be available for viewing on the website after each grade level presentation. 
Information about registration presentations, including dates and times for rising seniors, juniors, and sophomores.

Weekend SAT and ACT Testing at WOHS

Important Things to Note:
•    Make sure you bring a physical photo ID. You cannot test without one. Pictures of an ID are not accepted.
•    These are the dates being offered at West Orange. Other schools may have different dates.
•    You must register online through the testing websites.
•    For ACT, West Orange only offers the paper version of the test. You would need to register for a different location if you want to take the digital version.
•    For SAT, complete the pre-test setup on Bluebook before arriving for testing. You can only access the test ticket if you have done this. You cannot check in for testing without your test ticket.
•    For SAT, please have your College Board login memorized. You will need this to login to Bluebook on test day.

COMPETITIVE CHEER


Congrats to our Competitive Cheer team for competing at the FHSAA State Series in 2A Small Varsity All Girl. The girls placed 6th in the state. They will compete at UCA Nationals the weekend of February 6th at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Free Tutoring Services - Brainfuse


Brainfuse offers free online tutoring through the Orange County Library System to ALL students in Orange County Public Schools.

FREE live tutors are available every day from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Using Brainfuse, students can connect with a qualified tutor for expert help in a variety of subjects.
Lake Apopka Natural Gas District - Skilled Trades Scholarship
To provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll in a trade or technical program at an accredited two-year college or trade school in the State of Florida. We aim to invest in individuals who are committed to developing hands-on skills that make a direct impact in the communities of West Orange and South Lake Counties.

Arts for Life - Arts for Life! annually awards $2,000 scholarships to 35 graduating high school seniors in Florida who demonstrate excellence in creative writing, dance, drama, music or visual art.

Simon Youth Foundation Scholarships - Every student with the determination to learn deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education. Each year, SYF awards an average of $1 million (based on available funding) in scholarships to help offset post-secondary expenses. By focusing on first-generation college students and those with financial need, we ensure more young people have the chance to chase their dreams—no matter their circumstances. Three scholarships are available: Shari Simon Greenberg Community Scholarships of the Simon Youth Foundation are available to high school seniors living near a Simon mall or in the surrounding communities. Simon Youth Academy Scholarships are available only to graduates of Simon Youth Academies. Greg Saunders Legacy Program Scholarships are available only to dependents of a Simon Property Group employee.

2025 Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) - As an HSF Scholar, you will have access to HSF’s invaluable Scholar Support Services and be eligible to receive a scholarship, depending on available funds.

Addition Financial Joseph A. Melbourne Scholarship - Named after Addition Financials’ former President and CEO, the Joseph A. Foundation for OCPS Scholarships - We're excited to share that scholarship applications for the Class of 2026 are now open. These opportunities can make a meaningful difference for students pursuing college, technical programs, or other post‑secondary pathways. Multiple scholarships are available.

4Rivers Black Youth Scholarship- The 4Rivers Black Youth Scholarship will award a student pursuing a vocational, 2-year, or 4-year degree at a college or university with a $2,500 scholarship.

Alexander Lauder W. Adams Estate Fund Scholarship- The Alexander Lauder W. Adams Fund was established in 1991 to provide scholarships for graduates of Edgewater High School. This scholarship awards $1,500 to qualified OCPS high school seniors.

Charles T. Smith Scholarship- The Charles T. Smith Scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who has shown excellence in volunteer service. The annual award is $1,000 to a qualified student.

Charlotte Rath Memorial Scholarship - me & myCommUnity- The Charlotte Rath Memorial Scholarship will award a student who participated in the me & myCommUnity mentorship program with a $2,500 scholarship award.

Coach Fred Pennington Scholarship- The Coach Fred Pennington Endowment Fund has helped provide annual $1,500 scholarships to Evans High School basketball players or cheerleaders from low-income families and seeking to attend a technical/vocational school, college, or university.

David and Stephanie Carmany Debate Scholarship- The David and Stephanie Carmany Debate Scholarship is awarded to a student who is excelling in debate and pursuing a post-secondary education at a four-year college or university. Scholarship award amounts vary.

Earl K. Wood Scholarship- The Earl K. Wood Scholarship fund award recognizes public speaking ability in a high school senior as it honors the long-time Orange County Tax Collector, who was a member of the Orlando Conquerors Toastmaster Club 1066 for many years. One student will be awarded a scholarship of $2,500.
Impacto Academico Leadership Scholarship- The Impacto Academico Leadership Scholarship will award Brazilian students with individualized support and mentorship for college preparedness and leadership skills. The awardees will receive in-kind services valued at up to $9,000.

KMD Foundation Scholarship- The KMD Foundation is dedicated to supporting traditionally underrepresented students who are culturally responsible future leaders.
Mikey Stroz Memorial Scholarship- Each spring, the Fund will distribute a scholarship to a graduating senior who has been accepted to a college/university or a technical college. Priority will be given to a student-athlete who has been part of the Central Florida lacrosse family. Scholarship award amounts vary.

Neffo Scholarship- The Neffo Scholarship is to support a high school senior dedicated to community service who has at least one parent working for Orange County Public Schools. The award amount is $1,000.

Paul & Sarah Goodman Scholarship- The Paul & Sarah Goodman Scholarship supports students interested in pursuing a vocational or technical career through Orange Technical College. Preference will be shown to high school students who are dual-enrolled in Orange Technical College.

Ron Jon Scholarship- The Ron Jon Scholarship will be awarded to two OCPS seniors who seek to pursue an undergraduate degree at a Florida college or university in a business-related program with a scholarship award of $3,500.

Royce B. Walden & Bert E. Roper Scholarship- The Royce B. Walden and Bert E. Roper Scholarship Fund is for migrant and homeless graduating senior high school students from Apopka High School, Evans High School, Jones High School, Ocoee High School, or West Orange High School who plan to attend a program at an OCPS Career & Technical Education Center. Scholarship award amounts vary.

District 4: STEAM & Volunteering Scholarship- The STEAM & Volunteering Scholarship is open to all OCPS students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who have a career interest in STEM/STEAM and/or Volunteerism/Service.
Suncoast Credit Union Scholars- The Suncoast Credit Union Foundation is awarding $2,000 to two high school seniors pursuing a post-secondary education in the 2026-27 school year at an accredited Florida 4-year college or university, 2-year college, or technical school.

Tom E. Halley & Carl W. Parks Memorial Scholarship- The Tom E. Halley & Carl W. Parks Memorial Scholarship supports students who are experiencing financial hardships with a $1,000 award.
Kevin B. Lang Memorial Foundation Scholarships– These scholarships are wonderful opportunities for students to receive financial support as they continue their educational and career pathways. We encourage eligible students to review the requirements and submit their applications for these scholarship opportunities: Tackle Your Talent Scholarship (for all students) and Kevin B. Lang Memorial Scholarship (for students pursuing a career as a Classroom Teacher or in a Vocational/Technical Field)

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Orange County (FL) Alumnae Chapter - The Orange County (FL) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will award five (6) $1,000 scholarships to eligible Black/African American high school seniors from Orange and Osceola counties, as well as one (1) $1,000 scholarship to a Black/African American post-secondary student from Orange or Osceola County in May 2026.

Jason Beaird Memorial Foundation Scholarship- JBMF awards scholarships to honor the life and legacy of Jason Beaird and provide financial assistance for graduating Orange County, Florida, high school seniors who have overcome adversity. Our scholars have faced immense struggles in their lives, yet despite these challenges, plan to continue their academic journey at a Junior/Community College, Technical School or 4-year university following high school graduation. JBMF is offering around ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating Orange County seniors who have overcome adversity as Jason did. Applications are limited to the first 100 received. ​

Mark Wandall Foundation Scholarship- This is a scholarship opportunity for grieving youth. The Mark Wandall Foundation is proud to offer scholarships to assist graduating seniors and/or young adults (ages 25 and younger) who are residents of the State of Florida and are seeking post-secondary education (including technical and vocational schools). All applicants must have suffered the death of a parent, sibling, or guardian.

College Fair with Scholarship Opportunity

Orlando Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc- OACDST will be hosting a College Fair on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at UCF’s Downtown Campus from 6pm-8pm. This fair is designed to help students connect their skills, interests, and values with potential career opportunities. Students will have the chance to speak directly with professionals about career pathways, industry expectations, and effective strategies for achieving their goals. This event is open to middle and high school students. (Flyer below)

2026 Decisions Page is LIVE!

  • The Class of 2026 Decision Day celebration will be Wednesday, April 29th at 1:30pm in the Gym. This is one of the great traditions at WOHS and all students and family are invited to attend. Additional event details will be sent out after Spring Break.

Starting Friday, January 19th Seniors can come to the CCC during 6th & 7th period (with a pass) to get help with their FAFSA , Florida Financial Aid, and scholarship applications! No appointment is needed!
